Quokka3 speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard your AI assistant already uses for tools. Connect it once and your assistant drafts settings files, validates them against the authoritative release schema, runs the simulation in the Quokka3 cloud, and fetches the results — grounded in the Quokka3 team's own curated expertise.
Validated input, not plausible guesses
Language models are good at producing settings files that look right. Quokka3's integration checks every file against the exact parameter schema of the release — names, types, units, bounds, option lists, model dependencies — and then against the same settings-processing code the solver itself runs, server-side. Errors are caught in seconds, before they cost a cloud run or, worse, a quietly wrong result.
The full simulation lifecycle
Start, monitor, stop, list and download cloud simulations directly from your assistant — under the same user account and compute capacity as the GUI. Every submission is prepared exactly as the GUI prepares it: meshed, RAM-sized and bundled before upload, so a run that does not fit is refused before it starts. Describe the device and the study; your agent sets it up, runs it, and brings the numbers back for post-processing.
Curated expert knowledge, on demand
The quality layer: your assistant can query the curated Quokka3 knowledge base — which model to use when, practical pitfalls, the judgement calls the manuals don't spell out — written and maintained by the people who build Quokka3, and refreshed with every release. How it works
- Generate your MCP key. Any licensed user: in the Quokka3 GUI, Options → Cloud …, button generate MCP key. The key is shown once; generating a new one (or changing your password) revokes the old.
- Add Quokka3 to your assistant. Works with any MCP-capable host — Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and others. The config snippet and details are in the User Guide's MCP section.
- Simulate. "Set up a bifacial TOPCon cell, sweep the rear finger pitch, and plot the efficiency trend" — the agent drafts, validates, runs and downloads; you review physics, not syntax.
You bring your own AI. Quokka3 provides the validated tools, the compute and the knowledge; your assistant provides the reasoning and pays its own inference. No separate AI tier, no hosted agent lock-in — the integration is part of every full Quokka3 licence, commercial and academic.
